Magic Paper Lehnga – English Story For Kids

There used to be a very poor man named Mohan in a village. Mohan used to live with his wife Asha and his five-year old daughter Nidhi in his house. Mohan was a laborer, who worked hard all day long to feed his family. Its just matter of one day. Asha was busy with household chores. Just then Mohan’s friend Ramesh came there to Asha in panic.

speaker 2
What’s the matter Ramesh, why are you so nervous? Is everything okay?

Speaker 1
The news is not good for you.

speaker 2
Asha ji, what are you saying? Tell me quickly. My heart is sinking.

Speaker 1
Mohan and I were working as laborers at the village landlord’s house. Suddenly Mohan’s foot slipped from the roof and he fell from the roof carrying the load of bricks. Hearing Ramesh’s words, Asha cried.

speaker 2
Did something happen to Mohan? That’s fine.

Speaker 1
Is. The landlord has immediately admitted Mohan to the doctor. But the doctor said that Mohan’s legs were badly injured. You have to come with me to the hospital right here and now.

speaker 2
Oh God, what happened? Now who will take care of my family? How will everything happen now? I don’t even have enough money to pay the hospital bill. What am I?

Speaker 1
should i do? Do not worry. The landlord will pay the entire hospital bill. You just come with me to the hospital this time. Asha went to the hospital with Ramesh. After a few days, Mohan came to his home walking on crutches and started crying after seeing his wife and daughter. How unfortunate are you, Asha? Ever since you got married to me, I have never been able to give you any happiness and now even the hope for the future has ended.

speaker 2
Don’t say this, you are alive. This is enough for me.

Speaker 1
Is this also called living? Asha, I will now be dependent on the world at every step. Hey, I can’t even walk and drink a glass of water. How will the household expenses be covered? Our dream was to educate our Nidhi and make her a great officer. Now how will all this happen?

speaker 2
Be courageous. I am here. We will definitely fulfill our dream. We will provide good education to our daughter Nidhi.

Speaker 1
But how will all this happen? Asha, you know that now I cannot do any work.

speaker 2
You cannot do business but my hands and legs are safe. In my childhood, I used to watch my mother sewing and I was very fond of sewing and embroidery from the beginning. My mother taught me to sew. From today I will stitch clothes for the village people. Slowly everything will be fine.

Speaker 1
And the same happened. From that day onwards, Asha used to sew clothes for the villagers and earn a living for her family. Time passed like this. Asha had got Nidhi admitted in a government school. She would sew clothes from morning till evening and then cook food at home and at night she would read to her daughter for two hours. 10 years passed like this. Nidhi was now 15 years old. Nidhi had topped in high school.

speaker 2
Look mother. I have topped high school and it is all because of your hard work. No daughter, I just did my duty, but the truth is that it is the result of your hard work day and night that you topped high school. My school principal is calling you tomorrow. She wants to talk to you about something.

Speaker 1
You should go and talk to the principal. The next day Asha went to the school principal’s office with Nidhi. Principal Saroj Verma was happy to see Asha and said, Hey.

speaker 2
What kind of things are you saying? Your daughter has topped and because of this happiness she has got a scholarship. Your daughter will study for the first year in a school some distance away from here. Do you know? Every student dreams of studying in college, but no student gets admission there easily. This is a matter of great happiness for me. Your dream was that your daughter should study in a good school. I am sure that one day your daughter will do something big. All this is the result of your hard work. Asha ji, the whole village knows that you work hard day and night sewing clothes and we will see that your sacrifice will not go in vain.
